Approaching Kamloops, BC. Photo: Pexels.
What a good time I had with my local readers at the library yesterday. The room was full and the audience interested in the life of Florence Wilson. They asked interesting questions, and it was a treat for me to find people as intrigued by her as I am. Somehow an “e” crept into “St. Pancras” on the slide show which caused some hilarity. Autocorrect has a lot to answer for.
Next week, I am off to the Thompson-Nicola area for a week tour of Kamloops and the surrounding area, sponsored by the Thompson-Nicola Regional Libraries.

It is going to be fun because I will enjoy the audiences and because my friend, Faith, is coming with me to do the driving. We are hoping for warm weather and sunshine. It can snow. If anyone wants to look up those places on a map, you will see that we are driving about 1000Km.
The sponsors asked me to talk about Always on Call: Adventures in Nursing, Ranching, and Rural Living, but I am hoping to include some discussion of my new book Bloomsbury to Barkerville: The Life of Florence Wilson. That book was release in March and hit the BC Bestsellers List the first week. I get quite excited about that book, probably because it is about someone besides me, and I feel free to let my enthusiasm for the character run free. As well, she was an intrepid woman, and I am full of admiration for her.
Murder on Ashton-on-Tinch is out on the market and advertised in Chinese and German. Those are probably distributors, not translations, but still surprising to see.
The garden is bursting with energy. The buttercup weeds are anchoring into the blueberry beds. The grass demands the lawnmower, and the vegetable garden needs watering this early! The upside is I am eating the asparagus, and it’s delicious.
