P1000051Back from Italy and two weeks of Italian lessons, I have plunged into the mass of research necessary for a new book for Arsenal Pulp Press on adoptive parenting. So much has changed over the last fifteen years that I find myself approaching this book as if I had never researched and written about the subject before. Many theories that seemed real fifteen years ago have morphed and moved aside for new ones. Practical concerns that didn’t exist in the past now are front and centre for adoptive parents. I find it fascinating, but I am holding myself to a writing schedule and getting at it. As Patricia Moyes said, “Research is endlessly beguiling;  it’s the writing that’s work.” Anyone who has an opinion or idea for me, please send it along. I’m in the receptive stage.
