I am on page 206 and Chapter 12 of my new adult mystery. At this point, nothing seems to fit together well, and the characters are in danger of taking over. I recognize that danger and have decided I need a firm grip on the creative reins if I am going to drive his story through the next eight chapters. I’m determined to stay in charge.

I describe a young woman as a “marksman”. That seems wrong, but “marksperson” seems awkward. “Shooter” doesn’t convey the idea that she is accurate in her shooting and can also mean the gun itself. “Sniper” implies she shoots people which she doesn’t. Any suggestions for a word that would describe her?
